[Erin smiles a little because there's a bit of pride in what she'll say:]
My sister and I have bounced back and forth in life and death a few times, and that got the reaper's knickers in a twist. We're a weird case in that way. I met him during one of those times.
[It's not like everyone in her world gets to do that, hah, it's the kind of thing that happens if you're (un)lucky enough to be a recurring character in this kind of canon, yup -- and in Erin's sister's case, the most popular main character]
...it just happens...look, it just does. Long stories, and I'm not sure how to even begin.
[Erin sighs, exasperated]
Things just happen! For example, just to remember an incident...
Ten years ago my sister got murdered, some old guy used necromancy on her, and she was around as a sapient zombie for a few days, got an old room and then a job as some guy's secretary for very shady illegal commerce operations, but she started to lose her mind because she was a necromanced zombie, and then in a golf trip she bit into her boss' brain and then she got struck by lightning while madly trying to drive away in the golf cart, and that lightning strike revived her.
I have... many questions, but I think asking them won't help me understand the logic here regardless. There's a sapient dog, a red horned woman, and a man who appears to be made of metal with us.
[ So. For his own sanity, maybe he should just accept that lightning turned a zombie into... a normal woman? If he's understanding this right? ]
Yeah, they're fine. My sister just keeps trucking on despite losing that job, and her boss apparently only got the 90% of the brain you don't use eaten, so he still is exactly as normal.
[Erin, the 'you only use 10% of your brain' is a myth, but alright. Important thing is that both survived that arc]
Knowing the things I have seen and lived through, I kinda expect this Scawwy place to turn out weirder than it already is. For your sake better hope it doesn't.
[It's bad if Scawwy takes such wacky shape it could be an arc of her canon, and knowing what I know of Fear and Hunger, it also is bad if it takes shape of happenings of Daan's canon.
[ So she lives out of spite. That's hilarious. Daan looks like he's torn between feeling vaguely amused and not. Distracted by her actually complimenting him though. He looks like he really didn't expect it? ]
...Thanks. Might be the bare minimum here, but we all have to start somewhere.
It's my town's newspaper. Always stuck in the fight of having to deal with the modern digital era. The internet, the TV, the resurgence of idle gossip...fearsome foes, all those.

...Being the Four Horsemen, though, makes sense you'd expect something bigger.

[ Maybe they do have horses. ]
But yeah. It's just a name basically. Not mad though... real embodiments of Pestilence, War, Death, and Famine would be bad company to keep.

[When put like that you make them sound like dorks, Erin]

Death's claimed to be a doctor.
no subject
[Because she and that reaper have a tense relationship on account of Erin's shenanigans with life and death, so she wouldn't mind to see him gone]
no subject
...
[ Wait... ]
Did you say "that you know"?

[She didnt mispeak, she confirms]

Is this a regular thing where you're from?

[ That's crazy. When people come back from the dead in his world, it's always in some fucked up way. Necromancy, for example! ]
How did you get caught in a situation like that...?

Odds are, these two are doomed, haha]

He looks a bit taken aback at 'for YOUR sake', but he says nothing. ]
...The expectation for normalcy is low, huh.
Still... you seem to be handling it rather well, Ms. Winters.
no subject
[She's definitely the sort to use anger as her way of handling the trials and tribulations life throws at her]
You...you're doing nicely too, really. You've kept your wits. That's strength.
[There, a compliment!]
no subject
...Thanks. Might be the bare minimum here, but we all have to start somewhere.

Eh, most people break under pressure. Take the compliment and run with it, I don't throw those often.
no subject
[ It's funny. She reminds him of someone a bit, this attitude of hers. ]
What do you do normally, Ms. Winters?
no subject
[Journalism, hell yeah]
no subject
[ Tacklefield Cormorant... cute. ]

So a journalist.
[ There's a bit of thoughtfulness there, but vague. ]
Guess the profession itself invites a certain kind of person... or is it that that kind of mentality is needed for the job to begin with?
[ He shakes his head a little. ]
What's the "internet"?
