[ Everyone is struggling but I hope Nina is doing great actually. Unfortunately Daan is in the strugglers camp because he's just kind of standing behind the bar with a wine glass, a blanket over his shoulders, staring at the wall.
It's a bit early for both drinking and disassociating but you gotta do what you can to cope. ]
[ Ah. He looks around. Looks like he has a glass in his hand, but empty -- he's doing that stupid server thing where you just absentmindedly clean a glass to pass the time. ]
[ swallowed by the shadows and taken to a space from a different time and place...
you have your next target. a pompous old rich man who has done nothing but cause problems, making the life of poorer citizens a living hell. he's evil, in your eyes, and his dealings must be addressed. you get the group together and set out.
but what you don't expect is to run into a familiar face, one that you haven't seen in quite some time...
Only bandages and the like, though you're free to take one if you want. It pays to be prepared with the amount of injuries people can end up with here.
As long as we both remain in one piece each, anyway...
[ Alfyn coming back all beat up last week like OH NO. ]
The good thing is that a handful of you are decently prepared and knowledgeable with things like first aid. I assume you might be, at least a little...? If you've been living on your own for a while, as is my understanding.
[ He's pilfering around the camp office a bit, looking in desks and through the stacks of papers to see if he can't find anything useful.
The camp office, named Doyle House after the founding family, serves as the liaison between the normal outside world and the hellacious two month summer stay in the heart of the wild. Inside is a large desk with an old rotary phone (which unsurprisingly doesn’t work) and stacks of papers and folders–supply inventory, a map of the lake camp, and a list of campers: Kaitlyn, Jacob, Emma, Nick, Ryan, Dylan, Abigail, Laura, and Max.
He stops to look at the list of names and the map, but looks unenthused by it.
Let me guess... all just flavour and no substance, as usual. Who even are these people...?
He'll glance up if Nina enters, and just goes quiet for a minute, observing. ]

...Excuse me, I was lost in a bit of thought.
Miss Nina, isn't it?
no subject
Oh, uh, it's fine. [ and now they're in conversation. quick. be cool. ] Just Nina is fine, unless you like titles, I guess. [ good enough. ]
And you're... Daan, right?
no subject
[ He nods once. ]
Right. You can find my name on the cabin now.
no subject
You got the best spot in the village. Must be pretty comfy.
no subject
[ Like. In theory anyone could just come in and steal his assigned bed. ]
It's shabby, but it'll do. Fortunately the others are all pretty equally eager to get it spruced up. Noticeably less dusty than before.
And you?
no subject
[ makes mental note. ]
It's the same over at the barn, we've been tidying up, making sure it doesn't smell bad. Just don't want to chase the rats away.
no subject
Why not?
[ Why are you letting the rats stay. ]

Anyway this was so serious until she started on her little extra tirade about Silas. Daan is glad she's, uh, enjoying the sights, apparently. ]
...My my... we've got a little miss Robin Hood here, I see. Suppose I should be glad I'm out of shillings?
no subject
she raises a brow at the robin hood comment, smiling. ]
Don't count yourself too lucky, money isn't the only thing the rich steal from the poor.
[ a bit of a teasing tone as she plays along. ]

[ He ain't got anything interesting besides papers and his medbag. ]
no subject
[ what's written on those papers daan :eyes: ]

[ And then ISHTAR DIED. ]
no subject
Good to have at least a couple people prepared, between you and Alfyn, we're set.
[ OUR ISHTAR... can't really put a band aid on that. ]

[ losing a limb or something is FINE i guess. but otherwise!! aaaa ]
I'm able to take care of myself, yeah. And even more so after I joined the war. Ya see a lot and learn a lot, in battle.
Did you go to school to be a doctor, Daan?
[ holds my paws out for memory...fck me up cap'n ]
no subject
[ He says, being eyepatched, but that's netiher here nor there. ]
War, huh...? Seems like a lot of us have seen it. That's unfortunate. I've seen it too, though as a field medic.
[ And then as for her last question, she can very conveniently get this memory! ]
