Our group has gotten along quite well, too. Fortunately it seems I ended up in the same place as Mathis, so I have nothing to complain about.

He does seem to trust you and hold you in high regard.

It's been a difficult adjustment for him, so I do hope that the two of you will be able to get along.

I don't think we've gotten along badly, but I don't know about saying we're chums. Not yet, anyway. He does seem quite nervous.

He is, but I'm certain that he'll be able to come out of his shell again, given a bit of time.

[It's almost 40 strangers but at least a lot of them are so warm and friendly, which helps a lot... Also Mathis is just out here saying things all the time he's so tired, but given there's no reason to lie, he just nods!! HE GUESSES.]

I've only known him for a short while, but I've watched him make progress in even that amount of time.

[He says it with a very small smile, but one that seems genuinely appreciative. Truly what else can someone do in a situation like that outside of being like "WELL THAT SUCKS". It's about the commiseration...

But! His smile grows a little after that.]

I teach any subject that needs to be taught, up to certain levels of understanding. If you know a little about our nation, it probably won't surprise you to hear that we have many orphans... I travel through them and teach children from the earliest grades to their early teenage years.

Something of a general education role, then. Language, maths, sciences and all?

History, literature, making certain they get their exercise - yes, a very general role.

[It's because hardly anyone teaches to begin with so the few that do just have to Do It All.]

It keeps me very busy, to say the least!

At the very least, I can keep up with the little ones when they're playing tag.

I wouldn't undersell myself if I were you. I'm no good when it comes to physical exertion, for example. It's just as good to be versed in a little bit of everything.

Stitching people up whether they want it or not.

Doctoring, to be clear. 'Course, I can't entirely enforce it, but I can't just leave people around to bleed out either.

Oh! [HIS EXPRESSION LIGHTS UP...] Marvelous! That's one thing I'm not very skilled at, beyond the basics. We have so many people here who are prone to getting into trouble that it's a relief to hear we have a doctor.

Even the basics help, but you're smart enough to know that.

I wish they wouldn't, too, but that's a futile wish, indeed.

[Though it is also largely silly things from what he's heard, he's also seen multiple people do some headass stuff already.]

But yes, I'll certainly be glad to do what I can in a pinch if needed. It's reassuring to know that won't be all we have.

If you're unsure, I could always give you a quick lesson on step two of basics.

I'm sure it's not impossible that you may have to deal with a broken bone one day on a chlidren's playground.

They do roughhouse a bit too much sometimes... I'm fortunate that I've never had to deal with any breaks on the job.

[The scrapes and bruises he has to tend to are already bad enough when kids get so weepy over the smallest of wounds!! His weak heart can't take it.]

Well, I'll never turn down the chance to learn a little more, in any case.

Splinting broken bones is an easy enough thing to learn, fixes one of the more probable and common injuries in a fight, and helps regain a level of an edge back the quickest.

Should be easy enough to mimic a limb with a branch. Can use one of the scrap fabrics we have around.

Personally? I haven't, no. [Blessed...] Though I did have the misfortune of seeing someone else break a bone once... That's about as close as I've gotten. I learned basic splinting once quite a long time ago, but since I've never had to use it, I'd hardly count the knowledge.

[Now he's just thinking about snapped bones and how terrible they are, though.]
