she does hear him, though, and while she does not stop in her attempt to get to the waves, she does hoist her fucked up hand into the air so it doesn't get sandy or wet. she's just running through the sand like the hamilton poster pose ig]

[ I'm losing it. At least this helps bring his mood back up a little. He's standing on the line where grass turns to sand, crossing his arms and watching her have a load of fun.

She looks so happy... ]

[this is one of those things that she can't help herself with, really - the weekend sucked, but she knows she has to keep going. she wants to experience every little thing that she can. she wants the grass and the sun and the waves, she wants to share it with people. she wants to fill her lungs with fresh air and dig her toes in the sand, she wants to live as hard as she can. until she's exhausted every last bit of it.

so she does! she does. she goes up to her knees in the waves and stares out at the sunset, her tail whipping back and forth, hand pressed to her chest, above her slowly glowing heart.

and then she glances over her shoulder at him, and gestures. come on!!! come out...]

[ It's a good way to live, it really is. Daan seems content to watch her live the moment to her fullest, feel the sun even when it's too hot, feel the water even though it does little to extinguish the heat, not until it's too much.

He's fine like that, shifting his weight more onto one leg and observing this silhouette until she waves him over. He looks down at his fucked up shoes, his feet that're still healing from the callouses and wounds of walking so many miles in unfit loafers, and he thinks it's probably not an amazing idea but really, how much worse can it get?

Don't answer that, obviously. He steps out into the sand and a bit closer, just short of the waves lapping at his worn soles. ]

[she says, a little breathless, pleased. the smile on her face is bright and genuine, for the first time in what feels like an age.]

Gods, I love the waves. This place is fucking grand.

Yeah. Baldur's Gate is a port city. Loads of beaches. This reminds me of home.

It's the best. Clearest waters you've ever seen. Noisy as shit, full of right bastards, but everything about it is worth it.

I got so fucking lucky. My parents loved me and I loved them. Never was a question.

I'm enjoying the road. Bumpy as fuck and my feet hurt, but I'm taking the scenic route so that's not a surprise.

There's nice surprises waiting on the scenic route, at times. Life is quite long -- you can afford to take the long way.

[ I'm sorry about the silence but you would not believe how much party dialogue in his canon really is just '...'. He is just silent for a moment though, letting that sink in. It'd be a nice time for a smoke break and just have like five minutes to chill between them. ]

she doesn't do silence so much, but with him? she's more amenable to it. still, if she's not talking, she's fidgeting. rocking back and forth on her heels, tail swaying. it's not anxious or impatient, she just likes to move.

she can take a bit to just enjoy the silence. get used to it, even.]

But yes, really. As long as we waterproof the actual wound area, I'm sure you could play a bit. Saline water isn't actually bad for wounds, but you don't know what's in the ocean, so.

There's like gloves and stuff between the farmstead and the Funky Fashionista surely there's at least one that's sort of waterproof or water-resistant.
