There's a popular videogame at home called Pokémon for pocket monsters and one of them is called Ditto.

It copies of the appearance things, along with their abilities.

There's always plenty of stories and legends told over and over again about this and that though... vampires, werewolves... pixies. It may not be odd to have it as a monster in a game? Even if I'm not that familiar with it but I'm not exactly a monster scholar.

They're games played on a format that is simulated... Manifested? In an intangible realm, but through a tangible device. Imagine if you could explore a fictional world from a book, but through a mirror or something. Got film? Shortcut is to imagine movies, but you can interact with it in third person.
