I knew she was going to have to die eventually. We all knew it, surely. This group is largely optimistic, but not blind.
Knowing she was afflicted, she could very well kill again, and the only way to stop it was her own death.

...Necromancy, typically, doesn't revive people with their thoughts and the like intact. It's more like creating a ghoul.
I don't know of any examples of true resurrection.
